Presbyterian Healthcare launches pet food, supply drive
People aren’t the only ones in need because of the economy. Local animal shelters have been hard hit as more people have been forced to give up pets they can’t afford to keep. In an effort to help, Presbyterian hospitals have teamed to host a pet food and supply drive.
Presbyterian Hospital, 200 Hawthorn Lane; Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital, 1901 Randolph Road; and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, 1500 Matthews Township Parkway in Matthews, will host a drive for pet food and supplies to benefit the Humane Society of Charlotte through Feb. 28. Donation bins will be located next to each hospital cafeteria entrance. Items in most demand include:
- Quilts, blankets, sheets and towels
- Canned cat food
- Bottles for feeding newborn kittens and puppies
- Canned dog food (Purina One preferred)
- Gerber second-step baby food (turkey and turkey gravy or chicken and chicken gravy)
- Beech Nut first step baby food (Chicken & Chicken broth and Turkey & Turkey broth)
- KMR formula (sold at most pet stores to feed newborn kittens)
- Esbilac formula (sold at most pet stores to feed newborn puppies)
- Office supplies including paper, pens and file folders
- Paper towels and toilet paper
