The number of real estate closings in the local region for January 2010 (1,363) increased 8.3 percent over January 2009 when closings totaled 1,258, according to the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association, which reports on the region’s residential real estate market using Carolina Multiple Listing Services, Inc.

Opposition grows against Ballantyne affordable housing rezoning
Opposition continues to mount against a proposed rezoning effort in Ballantyne, even as Charlotte Mecklenburg city departments endorse the project. As of Feb. 15, 11 homeowners’ associations in the Ballantyne area had joined together in an effort to fight the rezoning plan, with at least one homeowner saying that he planned to file a protest petition.
